The German Governments IT Council decided to implement ISO 26300 in the Federal Administration. At 2010 latest the Federal Administration will be able to receive, sent, read and edit these documents in the open document standard. The action also explicitly refers to a Bundestag resolution from 2007. Some parts of the German government use Microsoft Office, others OpenOffice.org. Both applications will support the ODF format ISO 26300.
